Maher El-Kady carried out his doctoral studies at UCLA
with Prof. Richard Kaner, who holds the Chair in Materials
Innovation in the Department of Chemistry and
Biochemistry. Before joining UCLA, he had extensive
training in physical chemistry during his Master’s
program at Cairo University. For more than 12 years, he
has been studying the chemistry and physics of materials
with applications in energy storage, electronic devices,
medical and healthcare devices, chemical sensors and
biosensors, nanogenerators, electronic skin, solar cells,
water splitting, hydrogen energy, water remediation, and
environmental monitoring. El-Kady has co-authored 17
US and international patents issued and pending and
nearly 50 papers in prestigious journals. His
Dr. Maher El-Kady groundbreaking work on graphene led to the
development of Nanotech Energy, Inc. where he is leading
a team of scientists and engineers for developing more
powerful batteries, supercapacitors, printed electronics,
nanomaterials, conductive inks, and adhesives. Citations:
