ABSTRACT
This general lecture covers two main themes: in the first theme, we will
discuss the important intellectual skills required in higher education and its
relationship to creativity and innovation in scientific research and chemistry
learning strategies. Secondly, the foundations of effective communication
between faculty members and students along with the role of positive
energy and self-motivation in achieving academic excellence and creativity
among undergraduate students and young researchers will be highlighted.
Examples of how to make students interested, motivated and eager in
studying science will also be given. Essential soft and hard skills that
students need to acquire to be able to compete in global market will be also
mentioned.
