Some	types	of	problem

So	now	let’s	look	at	some	ways	to	think	through	these	problems.

Our	first	problem	is	a	fairly	simple	one.

                 Problem 1

You have a certain amount of money to spend but not enough to do two things

that are equally important to you.
                 Either

you can buy that video game console that you have wanted for a long time
(because Jude has bought the latest one and is selling her old one and you
can just about afford to buy it from her)

                 Or
you can go away with your best friend, Chris, for a week’s holiday to a great

                 theme park.

I	don’t	know	about	you,	but	I	would	find	very	hard	to	decide	between	those	two	things!

Step	1:	Make	sure	you	understand	the	problem

With	this	problem,	you	might	want	to	start	off	by	trying	to	see	the	whole	problem	–	so

you	could	use	Eagle-thinking	to	see	the	‘big	picture’.	You	could	draw	or	just	list	the	bits

that	make	up	the	problem,	and	link	them	with	lines	and	arrows	to	show	how	everything

                 is	connected.

A	simple	map	of	the	problem,	from	the	eagle’s	point-of-view,	might	look	like	this:
