P. 24
Step 2. Look for solutions
So far, our thinking doesn’t offer a solution, but it does keep the problem clear. Maybe a
little Ant-thinking would help – ask Chris how he/she would
feel if you didn’t go on the holiday, ask Jude if she would
keep the console until you had saved up more money (hey,
there’s a possible solution!), ask your parents for their
advice. And perhaps, use a little Koala-thinking – as you go to sleep, tell your brain to
come up with the best solution during the night, and, maybe, you will have the answer
when you wake up.
There seem to be a few choices in solving this problem:
1. Buy the game console now.
2. Go on holiday.
3. Go on holiday but ask Jude if she can wait until you’ve saved up again.
4. Keep your money, don’t go on holiday and don’t buy the game console.
Step 3. Choose the best solution
Maybe it’s time to think like a wallaby, and bounce some ideas around?
If you buy the video game console:
You would have something you’ve wanted a long time
Maybe your friends (including Chris) would enjoy it too
Chris might be disappointed you didn’t choose to go with him
If you go on the holiday?
You would have some (probably) great times and memories
Chris would be happy
Jude would sell the console to someone else
If you do neither,
You will still have your money to spend on something else later.
You may have to spend time making up with Chris.
You may not have another chance to get a game console.
