P. 23
If we get some Monkey-thinking happening next, we could look at each of the separate
parts of the problem.
Let’s start with the money part. What do we know?
You have only enough money to get one of these things.
You might get more money in the future.
Looking at the video-game console, we know:
1. Jude is getting a new one
2. Jude is selling her old one
3. Someone else might buy the old one from her before you do
4. You might never get the chance to buy one as good as this again
5. It’s second-hand – it may have something wrong with it.
When we look at the holiday we might consider:
1. It could be a lot of fun.
2. It could rain the whole time.
3. you want to stay good friends with Chris.
4. you would go somewhere interesting.
5. the dates for the holiday can’t be changed.
Looking at the Jude part, ask yourself:
what would happen if you decided not to buy the video game console?
would it affect your friendship with Jude?
does she desperately need the money for something special?
And, looking at the Chris part, ask:
what would happen if you do not go on holiday with Chris?
will Chris be very upset?
will you still be friends?
Will you miss out on having the time of your life?
