Goldfish-thinking
Unlike elephants, goldfish are said to have very short memories. Every trip around the
fish bowl is a new and amazing experience. What this can teach us is to look at the
problem often, and refresh your memory. Reminding yourself of what the problem
really is, and what you have done about it so far, is a helpful technique. You can keep
things ‘in perspective’ and make sure they don’t seem worse than they really are.
So far, these ways of thinking have been mainly to look at problems in different ways. By
using these techniques, you will probably have thought of a few different ways to solve
your problem. So now, we’ll think about how to choose between different possible
solutions and to decide on the best one.
