make it easier to find a solution? Sometimes, ‘taking a different perspective’ like this can
lead to new solutions.
Elephant-thinking
They say that elephants have amazingly long memories. I’m not sure what sort of things
they remember, but I am sure that elephants’ memories would have to be better than
mine! So, I find it helps to make notes of how problems developed. Think about what
happened, how it started. What was it that caused the problem in the first place? By
looking back at its history, you might find the reason why the problem occurred - and
that might suggest a solution. Or you might be able to look even further back to see the
‘chain of events’ that led up to the problem. Then that can help you to see where the
problems could go in the future, and what they could lead to, if nothing is done about
them.
So, now that we should be able to understand the problem, and we can start to think
about how to solve it.
