Step	2:	Look	for	solutions

                     Ant-thinking

Why	do	it	alone?	When	an	ant	has	a	major	piece	of	biscuit	crumb	to	move,	she	will	get

the	help	of	many	other	ants	and	between	them	they	will	get	their	load	to	the	nest	much

faster	than	if	they	tried	to	do	it	alone.	Problem-solving	is	much	easier	if	you	can	get	help.
As	well	as	asking	other	people	what	you	might	do	about	a	problem,	you	can	involve

them	in	helping	you	to	find	a	solution,	and	then	to	carry	it	out.

                     Spider-thinking

The	most	amazing	spider	web	I	have	ever	seen	was	a	golden	orb	weaver’s	web.	The	web

must	have	been	about	two	metres	in	diameter	and	it	looked	like	strands	of	pure	gold,

glinting	in	the	sun.	No	wonder	the	unsuspecting	insects	were	drawn	to	it.	Now,	I’m	not

suggesting	that	you	trap	your	friends	and	treat	them	like	food,	but	the	advice	of	your
networks	of	friends	could	be	very	helpful	to	you.

So,	like	the	ants,	get	some	help	from	others.	What	would	they	do	in	this	situation?	What

have	other	people	done	to	solve	similar	problems?	Ask	for	advice	from	your	family,
teachers,	whoever.	But	also,	you	can	look	up	information	in	books,	or	on	the	web	(ha	ha

                     again).

                                                                                                          11
