LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER
gentle Reader;
We don’t have many rites of passages left in our new world--because
traditions fall under the tide of what’s current. But, we do have marriage
left. My son Homer Strong married his love Liz Monsen, Montessori
teacher, on New Year’s Eve in Portland Oregon. Homer is a statistician
who went to CRMS, as his sister and I both did--both he and Liz are
graduates of Reed College, Portland, OR.
My daughter Jemima Rose officiated at the wedding--where she was
asked to read aloud the legend of Bauccus & Philemon, a tale celebrating
the sacredness of hospitality and also the deep love between that
married pair.
My cup is full. I have nothing to say but this: attend to your children. And, may you enjoy a scene of feasting and
goodwill with your children on just such an occasion--because these occasions are not merely incidental but a deep
sign of hope in life itself.
All Best,
