bOAT lINES
bOAT lINES
Below are instructions on tying each boat in the fleet. Lines will vary from boat to boat so be familiar with
the lines of the boat that you are running on. If you are unsure, then ask someone.
Never Tie Off Lines To Anything Other Than The Boats Cleats!
Reef Runner
Before leaving remove all lines except for the bow lines and starboard stern line until
ready to leave. When pulling in to dock you will tie off starboard and port side bow
lines before bringing ramp aboard. At the end of the day make sure you tie off both
stern lines, both spring lines and both bow lines in a cross pattern. Make sure boat is
tied off where boat will keep off the docks and pylons.
Seahorse
Before leaving remove all lines except for both bow lines and starboard forward
spring line until ready to leave. When pulling in to dock you will first grab the
starboard forward spring line and attach and then tie off both starboard and port side
bow lines before bringing ramp aboard. At the end of the day make sure you tie off
both stern lines, both spring lines, both breast lines and all bow lines.
Sand Dollar
Before leaving remove all lines except for the port side bow line and starboard breast
line until ready to leave. When pulling in to dock you will tie off starboard breast line
and then port side bow line before bringing ramp aboard. At the end of the day make
sure you tie off all stern lines, starboard side breast line and all bow lines in a cross
pattern.
Kokomo II
Before leaving remove all lines except for the bowlines and port side spring line until
ready to leave. When pulling in to dock you will first grab the port side spring line and
attach and then you will tie off both bow lines before bringing ramp aboard. At the end
of the day make sure you tie off both stern lines, breast lines, spring lines and bow
lines in a cross pattern making sure boat will keep off the docks and pylons.
Tying Boat Cleats
Tying off boat cleats correctly is very important. If tied incorrectly
the line can become loose and untie while at anchor or the line
can become too tight to undo.
If you are unsure how to correctly tie a cleat be sure to ask another
mate or captain on the correct way to do so.
The standard figure eight method to the right is used for both the
standard boat cleat as well as the cross bollard cleat.
