At Shelling Location
The shelling location is a favorite of many. At this spot, mates will go out and catch a blue crab or other
fish life with a net and make a touch tank to show everyone. Occasionally customers on your shelling
trip will stay on the boat instead of getting in the water. If so, to help them have an enjoyable experience
you might want to gather shells for them to take home and bring the fish life or crabs that you catch on the
boat to show them as well. Below are the mate responsibilities at the shelling location:
• Be in the water with customers at all times
• Make sure no one goes too far or in boating channel
• Catch a blue crab and other sh life with net to show customers
• Use a clear container as a touch tank to show and educate them on the di erent sh life
• Help the little ones in nding shells and hermit crabs for the hermit crab race
• You or the captain will do the hermit crab race (Make sure all hermit crabs go back in the water after the race)

Dolphin/Sunset Cruise
During the dolphin/sunset cruise you will need to offer everyone drinks as well as make it a goal to talk
to every family on your trip and answer any questions they may have. When looking for dolphins, you will
need to assist the captain in locating them as well as help customers locate them as they resurface. You
may or may not have to give speeches on this trip depending on the captain. However be prepared to give
a harbor speech and dolphin speech.
Fireworks Cruise
This is the shortest trip and although there might not be much for you as a mate to do during the fireworks
trip, remember we are there to make sure they have an enjoyable experience. During the fireworks cruise
you will need to hand out drinks as well as take up any trash they may have. Also before the fireworks it’s a
good idea to go around and introduce yourself and talk to each family on your trip.
