Uddhab Bharali
                                                                            Bharali

                                                        Words: Avinash A. (G. Hunt)

21 years after you are born, you are supposed

to tackle the world on your own. You and some-
times even the world might not think you are ready.
You fear that you will never be as great as those you
praise reverently, that your life will come to a state of re-
dundancy as many lives have before yours, that you will just be
another insignificant person in the long scheme of things. Through
all of history, every person, regardless of their vocation, has had such
fears. The difference between those that you deem to be great and those
that you care too little about is that the former have decided to do some-
thing about their fears. But you already know that, and if all it takes is to do
something then why do you think fear will hold you back? Why is there a distinc-
tion between your idols and yourself?
Is it because you are constantly told that the world will only accept winners and you don’t
see yourself as one? Is it because you are told that what you have isn’t enough to be not tram-
pled by those who have won more? Or the most disheartening answer, is it because you stopped
believing that you can be great too?
To tell you about great individuals, or in your case about great Engineers, to boost your inspiration
would be pointless, because how much can such material inspiration give you? Maybe about a day or
two of compassionate work, but that’s all. In the annals of history, Engineers such as Edison, Graham Bell,
and Tesla, among many others might inspire such inspiration; or if your patriotic fire is burning lesser-known,
yet significant Engineers like J. C. Bose, M. Visvesvaraya, or Ajay Bhatt, among others might inspire you. All these
made men, though humble their beginnings were, had started at the bottom just like you, but why should that
mean that you will be as great as them?
If you go deeper into the barrel, there you will find a little-known name of Uddhab Bharali. His life is a classic suc-
cess story, but if you tell it from end to the beginning then it becomes a tale too terrible to tell.
