If there is a special circumstance in which a student has completed and earned the points needed on the
Candidate Form but believes they will not earn the required minimum points on the Faculty Evaluation Surveys
due to a circumstance out of their control (e.g. extended absence from school due to illness, long time activity
advisor and/or teaching staff is on extended leave or now retired), a meeting with the National Honor Society
Advisor can be requested to discuss options.
Ineligible Students.
Students may be considered ineligible for consideration for the following reasons:
● Handing in forms after the designated deadline
● Omitting sections of the form
● Having no or missing verifying signatures
● Not handing in the required essay with the completed form
● Violating a school policy as determined by Overbrook High School administration
● Having received disciplinary action regarding behavior that reflects inappropriate or poor
character.
PART IV: RETENTION OF MEMBERS
Each year it will be the responsibility of the National Honor Society Advisor to monitor the extent to which
members of the Overbrook High School Chapter of the National Honor Society continue to uphold the ideals of
scholarship, service, character and leadership. To this end, the Advisor will complete an annual review of the
records relating to each member to determine if:
1. The member continues to hold a cumulative, unweighted, GPA of 92.0 or higher.
2. The member has actively participated in the National Honor Society's meetings and service
activities.
3. The member has continued to maintain leadership roles and actively participates in school and/or
community activities.
4. The member has continued to perform verifiable, ongoing volunteer service work.
5. The member continues to follow school policies and procedures.
6. The member maintains character and behavior reflective of the ideals of the National Honor Society
in school and community.
Any member meeting all of the above standards shall be considered a member in good standing of the
Overbrook High School Chapter of the National Honor Society.
Any member not meeting all of the above standards on the date of the review will receive written notification of
any and all deficiencies from the National Honor Society Advisor. The student will then have a specific time
period to take actions to remedy the described shortcomings. At the end of this probationary period, the
student's records will again be reviewed. If the student now meets the criteria listed above, the student will be
