WORLD GEOGRAPHY
        Level:I –Modified                         Grades: 9 -12                                Credits: 05
               This course is designed to engage students in the process of developing geographical understanding of
        their world. Emphasis will be placed on developing the five themes of geographic education (place and location,
        character, interaction and movement, and similarities and differences) and on linking those themes to the major
        world regions. Basic map skills, fundamental concepts of physical and cultural geography, and place name
        identification will be taught.

                                             Parent/Student Conferences

        When all concerned parties get together, understandings are reached, information shared and if necessary constructive
        change made possible. The student's guidance counselor should be the initial contact made by student, parent or guardian.
        The Counseling Office can help to determine the appropriate participants and can arrange that conference. Please contact

                                                     Appeal Process

        Parents, guardians and students who are 18 or older have the right to an appeal process. If a parent, guardian or student
        believes he/she has a legitimate grievance; it should be presented in the following order for resolution. If the grievance is
        not resolved to one's satisfaction at Step 1 (for example) the grievant should proceed to the next as sequenced below:

                      Step 1:           The Teacher/School Counselor
                      Step 2:           School Principal
                      Step 3:           Superintendent of Schools
                      Step 4:           Board of Education
                      Step 5:           Commissioner of Education or representative
