Synovum Care Small Scale Living Bellmere

               Our Vision for Bellmere

               A community within a community

The design of Synovum Care Bellmere provides an opportunity to create the right
environment to see our vision “Your Life Your Way”– a new direction in aged care; providing
creative solutions for complex needs, to deliver ‘as normal a life as possible’ come to life to
               its fullest potential.

All of the latest research into dementia tells us that smaller less clinical environments where
people can be involved in their daily routine, and in daily decision making, provides a better

life for the person living with a diagnosis of dementia. A smaller less clinical environment
provides people living with a dementia with the right prompts to live as normal a life as
possible, yet service providers continue to build larger living environments in large
institutional developments, even though dementia care is considered “core business” for a
               residential aged care provider.

Our vision is inclusive of everyone no matter their diagnosis. Whilst the design of Synovum
Care Bellmere specifically supports and assists persons living with a diagnosis of dementia, it

is a community designed to suit everybody.

The profile of people entering care in the future is different to that of those who entered care
20 years ago. Today it is even significantly different to those entering care as recent as 5 years
ago and will continue to change at a rapid pace. Historically, people chose to enter care as
they needed assistance with some daily living tasks and/or some companionship /
socialisation and often made residential aged care their home for 10 to 20 years.

Today we see people entering residential care much older or with higher complexities in the
care, services and support they require. Average stay is now around 12 months, other than
people living with a diagnosis of dementia (including younger onset dementia), mental health

issue or disability. Additionally, consumer expectations are changing. Consumers want more
