Technology

Sophisticated technology, developed collaboratively with a number of providers, facilitates a ‘dignity
in risk’ approach at Bellmere in order to achieve our vision. This allows residents to undertake
‘normal’ daily living activities like making a cup of tea, chopping the vegetables for dinner or taking a
walk in the garden. Team members will be there to support the residents who choose to participate
in activities while our monitoring system can detect any unusual behaviour for each resident.

Our technology has the ability to classify movements by a resident thus creating an alarm event.
These events are triggered by three actions:

• Dementia residents exiting their beds after hours (bed exit sensor)
• Cognitive residents requiring assistance anywhere on site (wireless tags)
• Wandering residents nearing site perimeters (via real time location)

Our cutting edge technology, which cost close to half a million dollars to develop, is a wireless
monitoring and communication system that includes:

• Movement sensors for residents who are assessed as requiring them for their specific
needs
• Resident safety and care response with duress alerts
• Bed exit sensors with alerts
• Real time notification of events through a central monitoring Dashboard
• The Dashboard allows for setting of simplistic or in-depth business rules for each
monitoring tag according to the needs of each individual resident
• Viewing of live video feeds via CCTV 24 hours both around the parameter fencing and in
the common areas of each small scale house
• Parameter fencing that is camouflaged by the landscaping
• Night team locations at two points in the Bellmere community
• Features within each of the houses such as kitchen ‘kill’ switches for overnight safety
