Synovum Care Small Scale Living Bellmere
Research
The most significant research piece undertaken was the building and operation of two small
scale houses in 2014 at Synovum Care Wynyard Tasmania. Through this process we gained a
number of valuable insights into the characteristics of team members required, benefits to
residents’ health and wellbeing and more. However we have also been able to document a
significant number of design elements that we needed to improve for the Synovum Care
Bellmere development.

Additionally we have explored and researched a number of international and national models
taking into account all key learnings, against our vision, throughout the design process. Refer

• The Green House Project – America. Studying of the philosophy and model of The Green
House Project since its commencement; understanding the financial considerations,
architecture and staffing
• Butterfly Household Homes – UK and Ireland. As part of our international research we have
been studying and attending workshops in regards to the Butterfly Household Homes and
their dementia care philosophy
