question becomes, how did JESUS deal with a victim’s
mentality?
In John Chapter 5, we find the incident of the man at the
healing Pool of Bethesda. For decades, this man failed to
get into the pool at the appropriate moment in order to
be healed. When JESUS witnessed this, he confronted
the man’s victim’s mindset immediately. He asked, “do
you really want to be healed?” The sick man answered
HIM, ‘Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when
the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another
steps down before me’ (John 5:7). Notice, JESUS did not

ask that. Notice also, the man did not answer the
question. Instead he exposed his victim’s mentality by
placing his inability to be healed on others. JESUS’
inquiry placed the responsibility to be head squarely on
the sick man. The Absolute Truth is no one is a victim in
the LORD JESUS CHRIST. HE alone is the source of all
healing, redemption, forgiveness, and victory. There is
no spiritual or worldly power to stand against HIM or
deny our victory - except our own mindset. JESUS
eventually healed the man by directing him to take
deliberate action for his healing, “Stand up, take up your
mat and walk” (John 5:8). HE then warned him with
these words, “Now you are well; so, stop sinning, or
something even worse may happen to you” (John 5:14).
