disadvantage across the spectrum of daily life. The

consequence of this disparity is the inability of black
people or other minority groups to influence policies,
programs and even their own futures. The many stories

and experiences supporting this fact, make it a truth in
the minds of many. Yet this is a limited and negative

view that unfortunately, obscures the truth.

Truth – Black people do possess power: As mentioned
above, black people possess power across a wide

spectrum of venues. Here are some examples. There are
a number of high-ranking military officers in all services.

There are several historically black colleges and
universities where the preponderance of the staff and
faculty are black. There are several minority owned

businesses that weld a great deal of economic influence.

There is no shortage of minority politicians who
influence both national and domestic policies, some of
which become the law of the land. Black preachers and

pastors possess an extraordinary degree of influence
over local culture, policies, and in some cases, national

policies, and programs. Black entertainers possess the
power to influence popular culture across all so-called

racial lines. While these facts present a truth contrary to
the above, they still are not the Absolute Truth.
