Republicans (GOP). Thus, these leaders found

themselves increasingly at odds with the goals of the
GOP even though the GOP body continued to be
sympathetic to initiatives that justly addressed Civil

            Rights needs.

This Caucus naturally became staunched advocates for
the Progressive political agenda. Yet, while their

Progressive alliance purported to be the protagonist for
black citizens, their activism has often proved to be
detrimental to that core cause. For instance, their

advocacy for open borders and fast citizenship for
            immigrants diminishes employment opportunities for

existing citizens. Also, as massive numbers of immigrants

overshadow the once dominant power of black voters.
In addition, one must also consider the impact of

Progressive Alliance policies on the well-being and safety
of families who are stranded in poor neighborhoods of

inner cities. When one adds these results, one must
objectively conclude that the livelihood, prosperity and

safety of black families has at best stagnated or, more
accurately, declined under the leadership of this
            alliance.

If one compares the results produced by this alliance

with the extensive legislation that was passed during
