The Mediterranean city of Ashdod was among these five
(Zech. 9:1-8). Israel later returned much of this territory
back to Egypt as provision of its 1979 treaty with Egypt.
In addition, the prophecy that Jordan would yield
control of the West Bank to Israel (Zech. 12:6) was

fulfilled. As a result, Jews who lived in the West Bank
returned to reside in Jerusalem.

Prophecies for Israel – fulfilled 1950 to 2000

[Mic. 5:5-8] As noted in the table above, the next major
prophetic event for Israel was the Yom Kippur War
which occurred in 1973. This war resulted from
repeated Syrian attacks on Jewish lands. Israel’s 3rd

leader, Golda Meir, ordered Israeli military (commanded
by Israel’s 2nd Shepherd, Moshe Dayan) to respond with
full force to stop the Syrian aggression.

This war began on October 6th and ended on October
25th with Israel taking control of the Golan Heights
territory that overlooked many of its cities that were
located on the shores of its Sea of Galilee. Israel was
assisted by US President Richard M. Nixon who provided
needed military arms to Israel. In 2018, US President

Donald Trump affirmed Israel’s rightful sovereignty over
this territory.
