1st Israeli-Lebanon war, 1982

[Zech. 12:2-3] As Zechariah had prophesied, Jerusalem
has become a burden to all nations! Also, as prophesied

by Ezekiel, the Shekel once again become in basic unit of
currency (Ezek. 45:12). This original currency unit was
re-established in February 1980.

[Mic. 5:5-8] During the late 70’s to early 80’s, Israel’s 4th
Leader, Menachem Begin (1977-1983) guided Israel
through major conflicts. In 1981 after long hostilities
with Syria, Prime Minister Menachem Begin enacted a
law to annex the Golan Heights. In January 1982, Ariel
Sharon became Israel’s IDF commander and its 3rd
Shepherd. He protected Jewish settlements against
Syrian threats in the Golan Heights territory. Within 6
months, the next major prophetic event occurred, the

Israel-Lebanon War. In June 1982 Menachem Begin
ordered the bombing of PLO positions in Lebanon. An
intense war ensued against PLO along with Syrian forces.
Ariel Sharon, Israel’s 3rd Shepherd, led that campaign.

[Zech. 12:6] Given these ongoing conflicts between
Israel and its surrounding neighbors, Zechariah’s
prophecy that Israel will be a firepan against its
surrounding enemies was and continues to be fulfilled.
