COMPANY CAR DASHCAMS V1 01.11.22

• All new company cars will now have a dashcam installed
• The purpose of this dashcam is to assist HSS in defending any motor

insurance claims made against them
• The dashcams will be installed “offline”, meaning that they will be
recording any driving activity but will not be connected to the network.

This means that the footage will not be stored and will be overwritten
when the internal memory is full.
• In the event of a colleague being involved in a blameworthy vehicle

incident, the camera will be “activated” and connected to the network.
This will allow the footage to be downloaded and stored so it can be
used in any insurance claim

• The activation of the camera may also be considered if the colleague is
involved in other high risk driving activities, such as speeding.
• Therefore, for the majority of colleagues, the camera will remain offline

for the whole vehicle lease
• Once activated, the camera will remain connected for the next 12

months. It will provide alerts on any high-risk driving activities.
• The need for discretion is acknowledged by the Fleet team as colleagues
will be using the cars for personal use. Access to the camera system will
be restricted to the senior members of the Fleet team and any

downloads will need to approved by myself.
