In December 2009 the Moscow‐based Institute of Economic Analysis issued a report claiming that the Hadley
Centre for Climate Change had tampered with Russian climate data which did not support the anthropogenic
global warming theory. It was alleged that Hadley had selectively eliminated stations showing a decline in
temperature resulting in over 40% of Russian territory being excluded from global calculations. The full Russian
data set showed a below zero rise of 1.4°C since 1860 against a CRU figure of 2.06°C. The IEA said it was
necessary to recalculate all the global temperature data in order to assess the scale of the exaggeration

Another wheeze of homogenisation has been to redefine the word “Arctic”. The Arctic Circle is about 66° and 33
minutes north. The Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, which exposes melting Arctic ice chose to expand the
Arctic Circle 450 miles in all directions setting the southern limit at 60° north . This made brothers in the Shetland
Islands “Arctic dwellers”. Had they realised this, they would have insisted on some tax refunds

In November 2008, GISS (James Hansen) announced that the month earlier had been the hottest October since
records began. When this startling claim was challenged, GISS admitted that it had made an error and had
accidentally duplicated September's figures into October. GISS then claimed that the mistake had been
“compensated “ by the discovery of a new "hotspot" in the Artic. This was proven to be untrue as evidenced by
satellite imagery showing that Arctic sea ice had expanded by 30% (the size of Germany) since the summer of
2007. Eventually the mistake was corrected with no apology or further explanation

The consistent trend has been for climatologists to refuse to disclose detailed adjustments and
the reasons for making them and like Humpty Dumpty claim that when they use a word it means
just “what they want it to mean neither more or less”. They have virtually unlimited control over
data handling and object to any external verification. This doesn’t sound like a “settled science”,
does it?
