Corruption of Bribery

Chapter 6 : Corruption in the “Carbon World”

Another important and widely used global temperature source is from Earth Orbiting Satellites of
the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and Remote Sensing Systems. Both record stable
or only slightly varying temperatures over the last decade with present temperatures barely
               above the 30 year average.

However data produced by James Hansen at NASA‐ GISS based on satellite and GHCN data
disagrees and shows a rise of around 0.5C.

Roy W Spencer of UAH reports that NASA has reworked recent temperatures upwards and older temperatures
downwards thereby creating the appearance of global warming. Canadian statistician Steve McIntyre reports
that NASA has rewritten its 1999 figures with yearly temperatures being adjusted by as much as +0.5°. He claims
NASA has refined the data from 1930 to 1999 with 55 of 70 adjustments being made upwards: the odds of these
being random adjustments were calculated as a million to one. Professor Mann strongly denies any skulduggery.

In February 2010 Andrew Lacis, a colleague of James Hansen’s at the Colorado Institute of Space
Studies commented on the supposedly definitive global warming summary in Chapter 9 of the
               IPCC’s report

There is no scientific merit to be found in the Executive Summary. The presentation sounds like something put
together by Greenpeace activists and their legal department. The points being made are made arbitrarily with
legal sounding caveats without having established any foundation or basis in fact. The Executive Summary seems
to be a political statement that is only designed to annoy greenhouse sceptics. Wasn't the IPCC assessment report
intended to be a scientific document that would merit solid backing from the climate science community‐instead
of forcing many climate scientists into having to agree with a greenhouse sceptic’s criticism that this is indeed a
report with a clear and obvious political agenda. The Executive Summary as it stands is beyond redemption and
               should simply be deleted.

So who says the “science is settled”

               8.8 Compilation and Homogenising
Data collected from proxies, land and satellite measurement has to be refined before it can be
used in data modelling or published for general consumption. This process is referred to in the
climatology community as “homogenisation” and it is intended to remove anomalies such as:

 times of observation (satellites do not orbit over the same point at the same time of day)
                    equipment changes
                    station history adjustment
 fills of missing data (that is filling in the blank cells)
                    Urban Heat Island adjustment

The suspicions are that some climatologists have used the homogenising process to deliberately
exclude data that does not support the global warming theory. "Cherry picking" involving the
exclusion of measuring stations, changes of equipment and understatement of the UHI effect are
examples of manipulation that can result in massive changes to output.
