Corruption of Bribery

Chapter 6 : Corruption in the “Carbon World”

Let’s think about this for a minute. It is like including the freezing temperatures in Alaska for the
historical record (thereby setting a low baseline) but then removing them for current purposes
and, instead, substituting data from a cell in Memphis. It is no wonder an upward trend emerges!

Canada’s measuring stations have been cut back from 600 to 35. Stations that have been closed or ignored are
those showing temperature stability or declines.

Temperatures readings can be influenced, or perverted, by such things as:

 The choice of thermometers (the HO‐83 instrument used widely in the USA has a + 0.5C
                       bias)
                    Error rates (at airports =/‐ 0.9C)
 The time of day readings are taken and their frequency
                    Daily or periodic averages

The main problem, however, is over the siting of the measuring station and the extent to which
temperature is affected by the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. This occurs in built up areas and
especially large cities where heat gets trapped and amplified during the day and cannot escape at
               night.

New York's Central Park's historical temperature plot shows an incredible warming increase of nearly 4°C since
the 1800s but it should be remembered that in 1835 there were 200,000 residents and now there are around 8
million. But half a mile away the West Point Military Academy temperature record shows a rise of 0.5° over the
               same period

The US has defined specifications for its measuring stations, requiring them to be sited in areas
that are not affected by UHI: however 89% do not comply

In August 2010 Joseph D’Aleo and Anthony Watts published an excellent 209 page report on scams in
temperature recording titled "Surface Temperature Records: Policy Driven Deception?", published by the Science
and Public Policy Institute. It shows how recordings have been influenced or perverted in a way that more than
accounts for the alleged rise in global warming. Their bottom line is that temperature data is seriously flawed and
               cannot be trusted.

Climatologists at the University of East Anglia and the Goddard Institute of Space Studies have
been remarkably unwilling to share their data especially with those they suspect may be un‐
               believers.

Phillip Jones in writing to an unbeliever said: "we have 25 years invested in this‐why should we let you see the
data when you're only objective is to find something wrong with it?".

In an e‐mail dated May 2008 Professor Jones wrote to Michael Mann with the subject line "IPCC and FOIA" and
stating “can you delete any e‐mails you may have had with Keith re AR4?. Keith will do likewise. Then you also e‐
mail Gxxxx and get him to do the same I don't have his e‐mail address”
