The new American play is written by Alan Mokler, with an original score for synthesizer by Brad Garton. The TNT production will be directed by Peter Wallace.Joe, the central character in the play, wanders across the country, stopping at such national landmarks as Cape Canaveral, Disney World, and various points in the West, where he meets up with an ex-astronaut, Mickey Mouse, a heart surgeon, cowboys and Indians, and an aspiring Las Vegas singer. Mokler describes the play as %u201can intuitive journey from modern technology to the old West and back again, in which working class people are impelled to look for more in life.%u201d Joe will be played by Obie award-winner Paul Zimet.%u201cSpace Walk%u201d will run from October 23 to November 16 at The New Theatre of Brooklyn, 465 Dean Street. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees at 11am on Thursdays and 3pm on Sundays. The matinees of Sunday, November 2 and 9 will be preceded by a chamber concert at 1:45pm; an art exhibit will be on view in the theatre%u2019s upstairs gallery for all performances. Performances will be given in LIU%u2019s Triangle Theater, Flatbush Avenue Extension at DeKalb Ave., Friday and Saturday at 8pmand Sunday at 2pm.The Diane Jacobowitz Dance Theater, called %u201cexcellent ... hot and unguarded,%u201d will present one untitled premiere featuring a hanging sculpture/installation. The new work for six dancers and choreographed to Georgian/Russian music, presents the dancers in various intimate and sensual contexts, including hanging, dropping, falling and climbing into and out of the elaborate hammock.%u201cOranges,%u201d Jacobowitz%u2019s zany, mysterious and comedic cartoon, unabashedly addresses the sultry, hilarious and violent aspects of communication between men and women. It is performed to the live and taped music of Eric Darton of Salon Bon Ton.Also on the program will be %u201cCinderella II,%u201d a theatrical exploration of youth and old age seen through the eyes of a five year old child, to a score by jazz/classical composer, Erik Friedlander; %u201cLast Dance,%u201d Jacobowitz%u2019s depiction of the Jewish grandmother/granddaughter relationship; and %u201cBeach,%u201d cited as %u201ca moving, conceptual evocation of the seashore.%u201dTickets are $7.00. Reservations are requested and may be made by calling (718) 467-2725.Get Tempted AT BCBCThe Temptations, whose soulful style has set standards for rock and pop performers for over 25 years, will perform at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College (BCBC) October 31 and November 1.Beginning in the late %u201950%u2019s with the classic %u201cThe Way You Do the Things You Do,%u201d the group has soared to the top of the charts time and again, gamering Grammys, gold and platinum. Several original members, including Otis Williams, the founder, are still with the group.The performances are at 8pm in Brooklyn College%u2019s Whitman Hall, off Nostrand and Flatbush Aves.
