At the meeting the nominatingcommittee for the Board%u2019s new officers willmake its report. Jerry Kenzim wasnominated as chairperson, Vivian Pattersenwas nominated as first vice-chair, AlbertParham as second vice-chair and Ann Kingas secretary. Charles Hargett was alsonominated for first vice-chair, and that willbe the only position that requires a ballotvote. Uncontested nominees are approved bya motion from the secretary.The Board will meet at the Brooklyn UnionGas Building at 195 Montague St. at 6pm.BQE Hearing ScheduledThe State Department of Transportationwill be holding a hearing on the design plansfor a proposed merge between the BrooklynQueens Expressway and the Gowanus Expressway Project. The hearing is scheduledfor Dec. 16 at 7:30pm in the auditorium ofJ.H.S. 142, 610 Henry St.According to David Seton, DOT spokesperson, this is the first step in an approval process for plans that are to be contracted out inNovember, 1987. Formore information, call 212-938-3244.Golden Says To Fight DrugsBorough President Howard Golden urgedmembers of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to take a more active role in combatting the ever growing drug problem in theborough, when he addressed some 200businessmen and women at the group%u2019s monthly Market Place Luncheon at Prospect Hallon Nov. 18.%u201cOur police, district attorneys and judgesare doing the best they can to respond to thiscrisis,%u201d Golden said about the growing use ofcrack, pointing out that in New York State in1985 fewer than 3,000 defendants weresentenced to more than 30 days in jail fordrug-related arrests.%u201cPrivate industry must join the fight, anddonate its resources along with those ofeducational, religious and civic institutions,%u201dhe said. Golden praised the chamber of commerce for its COBY program that providesdisadvantaged youngsters with jobs inprivate industry.%u201cThe chamber could take what it is doingnnp step further by %u2018adopting%u2019 some intermediate school classes in our most needyarea and promising them a college educationand a job if they graduate high school,%u201dGolden said. He also suggested they run anemployee drug education program or fundthe printing of drug education literature.Joe French, president of the Chamber ofCommerce, assured Golden that theChamber of Commerce would continue theirefforts to combat the drug problem. %u2014 L.K.Terrace Favors New ZoningGiving their unanimous support to preserving the character of the Windsor Terraceneighborhood, 26 members of CommunityBoard 7 (Sunset Park and Windsor Terrace)approved a resolution to change the zoningfor roughly 17 blocks of the area to a lowerdensity at a meeting of the full board on Nov.19.The vote came just one week after theboard held a public hearing on the proposalthat came from the Brooklyn office of the City Planning Commission. All 30 people whoattended the hearing spoke in favor of thezoning change.The affected area of Windsor Terraceborders Prospect Park from Park Circle toWindsor Place and stretches from the Parkto the Prospect Expressway. The zoningchange will not affect the property on OceanParkway or Prospect Park Southwest.The application by the City Planning Commission would change the zoning from R-6 toR-5 density, meaning a smaller amount ofsquare footage would be allowed on any lot.Community residents had expressed concernabout protecting the neighborhood character,in this low density area.
