He was ordainedand assigned as secretary to the Patriarch ofAntioch and all the East. While a deacon, hestudied at the Kelham Theological School andthe University of London. In 1956, he came tothe U.S. and enrolled at the Holy Cross GreekOrthodox School of Theology in Brookline,Mass. He graduated from Wayne Universitywith a bachelor of arts degree in 1959. OnMarch 1, 1959, he was ordained to thepriesthood and assigned to St. George Churchin Cleveland.
