The73-year-oki superstar is the Homecoming King o f Brooklyn%u2019s Welcome Backto Brooklyn Day, Sunday June 8, andthousands of children %u2014 whose parentsand grandparents were children whatKaye made%u2019cm laugh %u2014 will march in aprocession to honor him under the archat Grand Array Plaza.Kaye was bom and reared in the EastNew York section o f Brooklyn and attended Thomas Jefferson High School.He was only 17 when he plunged intoshow biz. He bounced around for morethan 12 years before he got a break, tosing a jawbreaker %u201cTchaikowsky%u201d onBroadway. It catapulted him toHollywood stardom,Bom David Kaminsky in 19113, oneof three sons o f a Russian immigrantD anny K aye, %u201986 H o m ec o m in g K in gtailor, Danny got his first laugh as achild in a show at P.S. 149. In 1930,during the depression, he left Brooklynto work in Florida, then reached theCatskills and finally toured thevaudeville circuit.Danny Xaye has entertained at Buckingham Palace more often than anyother performer. In fact, he has entertained more kings of more countriesthan any other star.
