94 The National Supply and Machinery Dealers' Association
machine tool dealers. I find this to be a fact that I often run
across pieces of machinery in my section that are not salable there,
but are salable in other sections. If we had a list of these machines
and could exchange our lists frequently we could sell more
readily and it would be very helpful.
While on my feet I want to make another suggestion. I
don’t know what the experience of the other dealers is in regard
to getting literature from the manufacturer. It is very embar
rassing for a man to come into my store and lay down a catalogue
which I have not in my case. Manufacturers are very, very lax
about keeping the dealers posted on their products.
It seems to me the Secretary of our Association can be help
ful to us along these lines in instructing the manufacturer that as
fast as they issue new literature they send it out to us promptly.
Now, in regard to price books, I think it is conceded that the
number six Morden is the best to be used, for I can get in a
number six small cuts of machines, and it almost relieves the
necessity of carrying a bulky catalogue, and also relieves the
travelling salesman of carrying a catalogue with him.

less of the number here.
