First Annual Cnmn'ntian

M r. A nderson : I will lead it with that strntfadtuent: "Also
that any article of machinery, the re-sale price of which is $100
or less, be subject to a discount of not less than twenty per cent
to the selling agent or dealer f. o. b. factory, and that the latter
pledge liimself to maintain the established selling price.”
The motion being seconded is unanimously carried.
Mr. IV u it a : The extreme modesty of our Scotch friend
does not permit him to get up and say anything unless you ask
him. hut 1 think it would help this Committee if lie will mention
how they met that preposition in the National Hardware Asso
                  ciation.

                        M r. M c I ntosh : I don't know how they do in the National
Hardware Association, but in Cleveland with all those goods that
are controlled by the rebate plan, we exchange any price we choose,
and do not consider it any violation. It is a matter we do not
want to talk with the manufacturer. I think if we would put it
up to the manufacturers they would shut down on us.
P resident S trong : The Secretary has a letter addressed to
him on the 13th of the month from Mr. Geier, which will be
                   interesting to these gentlemen :
                                                           “Cincinnati. Feb. 13th. 1906.
                   Mr. J. H. Drury, Secy-Treas.,
National Supply & Machy. Dealers Assn.,
Care Chamberlin Hotel, Fortress Monroe. Ya.
Dear Mr. Drury: I find your letter of the 30th ult. upon
my return to Cincinnati from New York.
I regret that it will be impossible for me to be with you at
                   your Convention.
In New York I learned for the first time from Mr. Alfred
Marshall of Chicago, that there was some dissatisfaction on the
part of the dealers with the action of the National Machine Tool
Builders * Association at their last convention relative to the
uniform contract. I exceedingly regret that this matter has not
been handled exactly as it should have been.
The Convention in October appointed a Committee consisting
of Messrs. Newton, Shipley, and myself, with instructions to meet
a similar committee of your Association, and if possible, formulate
