M r. P atti sox : W hy not adopt the resolution as read, and
adopt another resolution in the shape of a request?
                      P resid en t S t r o n g: Do you wish to withdraw this
                 resolution ?

                      M r. P u c i i t a : 1 will withdraw it. or, if you see fit to refer
it to a committee, to prepare it in such a way as to express our
selves. You can do it either way. I will withdraw it.
P resident S trong: Mr. Puchta withdraws his resolution,
and it can he presented again this afternoon.
Mr. P atterson : As representatives of the press committee,
Mr. Pond. Mr. Moore and myself, are being approached
daily for news. W e would like to have instructions as to what to
say. W e have said nothing which can go on record as touching
the closed session of the Convention. We want to make that
assertion so there can he no question about it. Xow, we want
instructions as to what we shall say to the press representatives.
                       M r. F er n i.ev : I think the Chairman of the Press Committee,
who is a good jollier, should spend his time telling the news
paper men what a good time they are having, and manage to
satisfy them without telling them anything. I do not think you
should let anything go out which has occurred here. You do not
want them to know you are getting eleven and a quarter per cent
when it costs you ten per cent to do business. Your banker will
be 011 to you. Tf you will invite them to the banquet tonight it will
                  satisfy them.
A Mem her: You will remember that last year one of the
large papers secured a complete copy of the stenographer’s notes
                  without the consent of the o r g a n i z a t i o n in any way. shape or form.

                       P r e s i d e n t S t r o n g : That was taken care of early in the
                  proceedings.
The next matter 011 the program is trade literature and price

Mr. P atterson: One or two little suggestions. I have
started a movement which I have heartily gone into with my
frie nds, the Machine I'ool I’ttilders. and that is the question of
second hand inachinerv sales. I have a list of fifteen or sixteen
