RTA Awards Contract To Widen Bridge Leading To Terminal 1

Airports have initiated a project to upgrade the bridge leading to Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport. This development

is set to improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and enhance the overall experience for passengers. The airport saw over

92 million travellers in 2024, necessitating these improvements.

The bridge expansion will increase its capacity from 4,200 to 5,600 vehicles per hour, marking a 33% rise. The project
includes widening the existing bridge from three to four lanes by constructing a new bridge using steel box girders

integrated with a composite concrete slab. This method ensures high structural efficiency and quick delivery without

disrupting traffic on Airport Street.
