successful liver transplant operation in Romania (from a deceased donor). With
the rescue of Gheorghe Penea from death, Prof. Irinel Popescu introduced liver

transplantation as a therapeutic method in Romania, moving from the
pioneering stage to the stage of a routine procedure

* 11 years ago (2013) the Boston Marathon bombing took place, when two
bombs were detonated near the finish line of the marathon, in the state of

Massachusetts, United States of America. The two explosions occurred almost
simultaneously at a distance of 15 to 20 meters from each other, 3 people

dying and 183 others being injured. A third explosion occurred at the "J.F.
Kennedy" Library in Boston, about two hours later

* It is 5 years (2019) since the Notre-Dame Cathedral in the center of Paris, a

cultural, religious and architectural symbol of France, was engulfed in flames,
in a powerful fire that destroyed one of the most visited tourist attractions in
France. Currently, the cathedral is under reconstruction, to be reopened in

December 2024
