– 1946: The painter and professor Zamfir Dumitrescu was born; president of
               the Union of Fine Artists of Romania (2002-2007), deputy (2004-2008) (d.

               2021)



               – 1947 – Sorin Postolache, publicist and caricaturist (d. 2002)


               – 1950 – Mircea Ciobanu, painter, sculptor, writer, graphic designer, architect,

               glassmaker and journalist (d. 1991)



               –  1967:  His  Eminence  Nicolae  Condrea,  Metropolitan  of  the  Romanian
               Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas (since 2016, Archbishop since 2002) was
               born.



               – 1967: Theologian, pedagogue and publicist Nicolae Colan died; in 1957 he

               was elected Archbishop of Sibiu and Metropolitan of Transylvania; Minister of
               National  Education,  Cults  and  Arts  (1938-1939);  rich  publishing  activity;

               honorary member of the Romanian Academy since 1942 (b. 1893)



               –  1969:  The  composer  of  light  music  Bogdan  Cristinoiu  was  born;  son  of
               composer Ion Cristinoiu – 55 years old



               – 1978: Sergiu (Serghei) Malagamba, composer, conductor, musical arranger
               and instrumentalist (drummer), died; is one of the pioneers of Romanian jazz

               (b. 1913, in Chisinau, today in the Republic of Moldova)



               – 1988 – Modest Morariu, poet, essayist, prose writer, translator (he translated
               from Albert Camus, Stendhal, André Malraux, Marcel Brion and others) and

               plastic critic (b. 1929, in Chernivtsi, today in Ukraine) died


               – 1994: Geologist and professor Sabba S. Stefanescu died; he carried out an

               intense research activity, mainly in the two disciplines he also taught at the
               department:  electromagnetic  field  theory  and  electrical  prospecting;

               considered,  together  with  Liviu  Constantinescu,  as  the  founder  of  the
               Romanian school of geophysics; full member of the Romanian Academy since

               1963 (b. 1902) – 30 years
