               my mom had a
               quilt like that

               Sunbonnet Sue 1970. Gift from my grandmother, Edith Wirth Goers. 75"x77" Fabric: Cotton sewing scraps;
               possibly some polycotton. Batting: Poly. Backing: Polycotton sheet in floral and gray striped print. Edge:
               Backing is brought ¾" to the front and stitched by hand. Piecing: By machine. Figures are top-stitched.
               Quilting: By hand, outlining the sashing and each piece of the figures. Condition: Good. Some brown age
               spots appear in the white and lavender areas. Comment: The pattern is one of several traditional "Sunbon-
               net Sue" patterns. It contains scraps from my clothing sewing projects, but the lavender bands likely go
               back to the ’50s. She made the top. The remainder was done by the quilting group of the North Fork of the
               Siuslaw River near Florence, OR.
                                                                                  Figure 176: Sunbonnet Sue
