Sunbonnet Sue Fabrics are 1930s to 1950s. eBay purchase 2014. 68"x88" Fabric: Pale yellow cotton. Prints are
predominantly purple and green. Batting: Very thin woven wool flannel. Backing: Cotton pale yellow to
match front. Edge: Back is brought 1½" to the front. Piecing: Blocks are joined by machine. Appliques are
applied by hand and trimmed with hand embroidery. Quilting: By hand around the appliques at 7 stitches
per inch. Condition: Very good. I received the quilt with the dirty brown patch that shows above the fold
line in the middle of this picture, and with the bottom hem halfway out. I mended the hem and washed
the quilt. Upon searching, it’s still possible to see faint stains in the yellow around two of the figures. Com-
ment: Good for the dynamic design of the girls striding in two directions. It’s not as sentimental as most
Sues. Notice that figures are cut off at the edges. Anything else would destroy the dynamic design.
