Wreaths
LEFT: Poppies 1930s. Purchased at Cashmere, WA antique mall. 75"x95" Fabric: Cotton percale. Batting:
Medium weight. Backing: Cotton percale. Edge: Scalloped, covered with a red tape 3 /8" wide on each side,
machined to the front and hand stitched in back. Piecing: Appliqué is by hand in stitched so small and
close that they are nearly continuous. Quilting: By hand, 8 stitches to the inch, extensive and elaborate. The
center contains an elongated wreath, the center of which is four sets of V-shaped lines pointing in. Outside
of the wreath are diagonal lines to a set of scalloped lines outside the floral motif. Outside of the scallops,
the diagonals continue to a plume all around the border. Outside of the plume are heart-shaped flowers on
curved stems. Condition: Excellent. Comment: A completed 1930s kit quilt.
