Trapunto Rose Wreath Sold as 1850s. eBay purchase. 85½” long plus 1¼” to tip of prairie point on one end
and 86” wide plus 2½” to the tip of the prairie points around three edges. Fabric: All cotton. Batting: Light
weight with debris visible when held up to the light. Backing: Cotton. Edge: Prairie points on three sides,
red binding ¼” side applied by hand to the top edge. Piecing: Squares are pieced by hand. Appliques on
each are stitched by hand. Roses and rose buds are stuffed from the top. Stems are embroidered. Quilting:
By hand in a 1” diamond grid except within the appliques. Condition: Very good, with extremely minor
brown spots and very light soiling on top. The back has one brown spot and tanning along fold lines.
Comment: Collected because of the rarity of trapunto.
