my mom had a
quilt like that
Daughters of America Dated in embroidery as 1941. Purchased at a Seattle area antique show in 1992.
50"x75¼" Fabric: Wool. Some of the reds are pieced, but all of the same fabric. Batting: Light. Backing: Red,
silky textured, shiny but cotton. Edge: Silky, pieced from the backing fabric, decorated with a running
machine blanket-like stitch. Piecing: By machine. Quilting:Tied at the corners of squares and knotted on the
back. Condition: Excellent. Comment: "D of A" is "Daughters of America," a Catholic charity organization.
The vendor thought that was DAR and said it came from the closure of a DAR home in Tiffin, Ohio. It is
embroidered with names, some of whom add titles: PSC, PGL, PC. I have not been able to translate those.
