               my mom had a
               quilt like that

Wheel of Fortune, Orange on Pale Blue 1925-1950s when orange was popular and pale blue was available.
Puyallup fairgrounds purchase 1990s. 65"xs78" Fabric: Cotton. The blue is very light weight. Batting: Thin
cotton. Backing: Yellow cotton. Edge: Back is brought ¼" to the front and attached by hand. Piecing: By
hand by unusual technique: The motif is basted to the batting and backing, then the blue ground applied
around each motif in a block, and blocks are then stitched to motifs and to one another. Quilting: By hand.
Condition: Good. Fabric is solid. The blue is slightly faded. The blue thread that was use to add the blue
fabric has deteriorated and required re-stitching, but all fabrics are original. Because of the odd piecing
technique, the blue is sometimes bunched or pinch pleated into place It has two pale brown freckles. Com-
ment: The "Wheel of Fortune" is a known pattern and templates are available. A border in red or orange
would help its looks. Homely quilt, but a rare pattern.
Figure 69: Wheel of Fortune, Orange on
