Dresden Plate with Central Stars and Stars Between Plates Fabrics of the wedges are classical 1930s. eBay
purchase in 2014. 67"x82" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Medium heavy. Backing: Cotton, deep forest green. Edge:
Back is brought to the front for a 1" border and caught by hand. Piecing: Probably machine; the quilting
lines are so close to the seams that it’s difficult to see. Quilting: By hand, in red heavy-gauge quilting
thread, around the motifs in concentric circles outside the "plates"; radiating to the tips of the stars; in trian-
gles within the arms of the stars. Condition: Excellent. Comment: Graphically striking take on a traditional
pattern with a Pennsylvania Deutch design aesthetic. It’s so fresh that I wonder if the back and quilting are
new.
