Pinwheels from Mississippi Late 1800s or early 1900s, judging from the turkey red, turn of the prior century
maroons, chrome yellow and fugitive green. eBay purchase 2013. 66"x81" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Medium
weight. Backing: Cotton, coarse texture blue and white plaid good for breezy summer shirts. Edge: Back is
brought to the front ½" and stitched by hand. Piecing: By machine. Quilting: By hand, 5 stitches to the inch.
The quilting is in a cable pattern in the sashes and close to seam lines in the pinwheels. The corners of the
blue blocks containing the wheels are filled in with sets of 2 parallel lines ½" from each other, one set going
horizontal, one going vertical, and one going diagonally into the corner. Condition: The fabrics are strong
and clean. The green is fading. There is fading on an edge of one blue. Comment: See "Mississippi Quilts"
