Top Ladies of Distinction Remembers…

                          Lord William “Bill” Lawton was the husband of Lady Audrie Lawton.

                                   He passed from this earth to his heavenly home on September 6, 2018 in Houston,
                                   Texas.
                                   Lord William Means Lawton, was born with his twin brother Samuel Henry Lawton
                                   Jr. on November 5, 1942 in Greenville, South Carolina.
                                   Lord Lawton attended grade school in Troy, Ohio before graduating from Fisk Uni-
                                   versity in Nashville, TN. At Fisk, he pledged Omega Psi Phi, where he served as
                                   Dean of Pledges. In 1969, Lord Bill moved to Houston, Texas to attend Thurgood
                                  Marshall School of Law. He graduated with a JD degree in 1973.
                                   In Houston, Lord Bill met and fell in love with Lady Audrie Lawton and they were
                                   married June 17, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas. They have one daughter Audrie Law-
ton, Jr. She followed in her dad’s footsteps and graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2002. His
granddaughters, Sydney and Shelby stole his heart.
Bill worked in Houston with Social Services Agencies. He later formed L & L Enterprises which he owned with
his wife and daughter. It was one of the first African American Consulting Firms for Charter Schools...
He was proud to be part of the Lords of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Before his illness, he attended each Syn-
Lod and Area One Conference from 1989 when Lady Lawton was inducted.
He enjoyed Lord’s activities and the friendships he developed. In the Houston Chapter he was known as fun lov-
ing and an advocate for TLOD.
