A total of 38 chapters submitted their “5 STAR PROGRAM” and intricately included a total of
three or more of the National Projects; National Council of Negro Women, Inc,; (NCNW)
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, (NAACP); Sickle Cell Disease
Awareness, (SCDA); United Negro College Fund, (UNCF) and the TLOD Literacy. Approximately
1,076,907 volunteer service hours were recorded for the Five Programmatic Thrusts.
We engaged the S.M.A.R.T. metric to guide our work and we strived to fulfill ALL of the
characteristics of an ALL inclusive, exciting, informative, and a well designed summarized program
consisting of the following:

     “Total programming” – a total of three or more of the National Projects were included;
i.e..NCNW, NAACP. UNCF. SCDA and TLOD Literacy.

 Program incorporated “unity and collaboration”.
 Program included measurement of “return on investment”.
 Program reflected volunteer service in the community.
 Program reflected sustainability and valued those of the community.
 Program reflected advocacy and accountability for the community.
 Documentation included Publicity and media coverage.
Overall, each program described in detail the program outlining (1) the approach used to meet the
goals of the specific Thrust/Project; (2) included data on how often members were engaged in the
multiple activities, and (3) the success indicators were evidenced by:

 Level of participation of Group, Ladies, Teens, Lords and the community
               Targeted population
               Collaborations and/or partnerships
               Material distributed
               Evaluation
               Community Investment
 Sustainability of activities included in the program
 Outside funding or in-kind services received
