Top Teens “Let The Good Times Roll” Community Service Is Real In
Houston

Humble Top Teens Honored at Annual Blue and Silver Ball
Teen Gerra Gistand, National TTA President, Senior, was crowned Miss Top Teen 2016, and Mr.
Top Teen MarQuavious James (2017 Senior), with over two-hundred fifty community members
watching, along with the TLOD HICTLOD-TTA family. The Blue and Silver Ball of the Humble
Intercontinental Chapter, honored their 2017 seniors on November 19, 2016, at the Power
Center, the theme for the event was, “Laissez les bon Temps Rouler.” The current Top Teen
President is Teen Kaci Mitchell. The Top Teen Senior Class included; Teen Amber Felder, also
Teens Maddison Gage, Alexander Green, National 2nd. Vice, Teen Karrington Hill, Teen Breon
Holmes, Teen Taylor McBride, Teen Cody Oduntan, Teen Alexandria Owens, Teen Ayanna
Stanfield, and Teen Steven Wright. Lady Sheila Maddox is very proud to be the Advisor of the
HIC Teens. She has stated that, “Our Teens represent the chapter well by participating in
various service projects at the Local, Area and National levels.” HIC-TLOD President Lady
Barbara Smith stated, “It is always a pleasure to plan and attend the Blue and Silver Ball, it
showcases some of the most dedicated teenagers in the Houston area.” Lady Maddox served as
the 2016, Blue and Silver Ball Chairlady. Proceeds from the Blue and Silver Ball will be used to
pay for registration and travel expenses for Teens to attend leadership conferences.

Senior Citizens, Lady Kathy Mosby, Chair- Teens have been involved in several Senior Citizens
Projects at Brook Hollow Heights Convalescent Center where the chapter donated blankets to
the Senior Center. Teens stated that they are committed to community involvement. The
Humble chapter has provided unlimited services to the community. Teens and Ladies provided
entertainment for the residents during the Christmas Holidays. We also showed our love by
celebrating Grandparents Day at Oreans Palace, where 21 grandparents were honored.
Thanksgiving Baskets were distributed at University Christian Church.

Status of Women-Lady Cherise Story-Chair- HIC Teens also supported the Breast Cancer Walk
that was sponsored by the Sisters Network. Status of Women Committee has been busy with
Dress for Success Houston in which the Ladies donated suits and shoes for women seeking

Humble Chapter partnered with University Christian Church on November 18, 2016 in which the
chapter funded the food truck from the Houston Food Bank. Employment and training
information was given to individuals on site.

Beautification-Chapter Beautification Projects included; cleaning our block as a part of the
Keep Houston Beautiful Adopt-a-Block Program, the block is located on the corner of Lyons
and Waco. HIC also donated a bench to Bellaire High School in honor of our HIC-TTA
President, Teen Kaci Mitchell on December 9, 2016.

Community Partnerships- Lady Charlene Johnson, Chair, Humble Teens were among over one-
thousand youth that attended the annual UNCF Youth Gala 2016. The Humble Chapter has
joined the A-TEEAM which is a National Partnership the Medgar Evers Foundation and Key
Middle. Twelve 6th. Grade boys have chosen to be trained in Character and Leadership. TTA
National President Teen Gerra Gistand and HIC-TLOD President were among Teens attending
the National TTA Leadership Academy at NASA in July of 2016. HIC-TLOD won the award for
