A. The Purpose of Learning Activities
After studying this module, you gain knowledge about the meaning,
sentence structure, linguistic elements, and how to ask questions and
respond whether accepting or declining suggestions and offers.

A. DEFINITION
Suggestions
Suggest means to give a suggestion i.e., to introduce or propose an
idea or a plan for someone’s consideration.
Suggestions are abstract and can be in form of advice, solution,
idea, and plan. It can be accepted or declined.
Offers
Offer means to give something physical or abstract to someone,
which can be taken as a gift or a trade.
Offers can be given in the form of money, solutions, bargain,
friendship, or food. It can be accepted or declined.
B. SOCIAL FUNCTION
The social function of suggestions and offers is to facilitate
interpersonal communication between different people.
C. EXPRESSIONS
When asking for suggestions, we often use the following
expressions:
Let’s … Why don’t we …?
We could … What about …?
How about …? I suggest that …
I think … I don’t think …
