I was hoping Pita might take me there one day even
though it was a long way to Aupori peninsula in the far
north of New Zealand.
A rainbow circled the moon that night as we drove
home and I thought of Aroha’s explanation about
Uenuku the rainbow god. I felt comforted by that
rainbow as I held tightly to my treasured necklace.
Pita was watching me as I clung to my necklace.
He had an indescribable look on his face.
