that patients under sedation or general anaesthetic
could replay their operation after the event if they so
desired. Quite possibly, such surveillance could be made
a legal right of the patient and its primary application
would be in ensuring that doctors and medical staff treat
their patients with due respect. The tapes could also be
used as evidence in malpractice lawsuits. The medical
103profession may be able to recoup some or all of the set
up costs by selling videos to the kind of patient that
would consider a tape an apt memento of their surgery.
